Q. I'm new to keeping guppies and fish keeping overall, I think it's a great obey and I'm really looking forward to getting into the swing of it. If everything goes well I would like to keep my guppies going and then get a few more fish tanks with other fish. The guppies that I've got at the moment are looking fantastic, there a snakeskin type and some red ones, what I want to know is when my guppies breed will the babies come out the same color and patterns as the ones that I've got now, like their parents?
A. Thanks for getting in touch, I'm so happy that you're enjoying your new hobby, first keeping is great fun especially guppies, watching them breed and grow up is the best. When it comes to what the babies will turn out like depends on a number of things such as the parents genes and the grandparents genes. Unless you know these details you will be unable to tell for sure what they will be like, the best thing for you to do is grown the babies up and then breed them back with there parents, this way you will be able to get the colors that you desire, I really hope this helps you with your guppy breeding.
